Linda Crowe Jarvis

Born and raised in the mountains of North Alabama, I learned at an early age about the beauty of nature, observation, colors, optimism and self-motivation.  As the oldest of 5 kids, I always had a lot of responsibility and I went to work at an early age, but that didn’t stop me from dreaming of being an artist one day.

As life would have it, I had my own big family, worked for many years in the corporate world and then became a Realtor for 15 more years before I actually started professionally painting in 2005.  Now that all my children are grown, I have time to pursue my dream.

I consider myself a self-taught artist.   I attended several classes on drawing and painting and have learned from as many people as would share their knowledge.  I would say my style is traditional to contemporary realism in my preferred medium of oil painting.  Usually, landscape, still life, floral, and people are my subjects but I will try anything. More than anything, I am a romantic, optimist, realist.

I am a member of Hoover/Shelby Art Association and the Birmingham Art Association.  I attended Jefferson State Community College for a degree in Interior Design.  Currently, I paint with Linda Vance at Lindart Studios in Hoover, Al and in my studio in Pelham, Al.  I show in local and state art shows and exhibits.  I also do commission work when requested.
